Halo 3 No-scoping
From halowiki.net
No-scoping is not something that a typical player can pull off at will. And even for those who have mastered it, it's a skill that's not always something you can rely on. In any case, no-scoping can be essential in giving yourself those precious milliseconds that could either mean life or death. And in some cases, victory or defeat.
No-scope
What are the benefits of no-scoping? The fact that the Sniper Rifle can practically replace the shot-gun or mauler for close range combat. And not just that, it adds to your style of play as well as giving you bragging rights. Think about it, the sniper rifle takes 2 shots to kill a person. If you could take advantage of two shots, your in for a lot of quick kills. Plus, it has longer range than a shotgun or a mauler. You don't have to blast away with your shot gun, hoping you would kill him before he kills you. You can change that with a simple no-scope. That's what makes this skill an efficient skill, even if its not one of the more reliable skill.
How To's to No-scoping
It's possible to be spontaneously good at no-scoping, but it's better if you could do it at any given time. It's a lot simpler once you're able to grasp the concept and apply. But even for a master, it's by no means an easy skill to use.
There are ways to simplify no-scoping. And there are also ways to make it easier for yourself
- First and foremost, have a lot of confidence. Don't think before hand that you will miss, otherwise you WILL miss.
- Be unconscious of the fact that your going to no-scope. Try to apply the same mentality as you do with the BR or a scoped sniper.
- Establish a relative point for your cross hair to aim at. It's easier to hit somebody if you have an idea where you want it.
- Using your strafes to help your aim will make no-scoping easier for some.
- Read your opponents movements. Aiming a few pixels ahead will increase your chances of nailing the kill.
- Understand your opponents moment. Understanding how your opponent moves in relation to your cross-hair will help you know where to aim.
- Envision yourself doing it. If you can't see yourself no-scoping, chances are you won't be no-scoping anybody.
- YOU DON'T HAVE TO GET A HEAD SHOT KILL TO BE GOOD AT NO-SCOPING
That's as far as I can explain.
Observe Other Players
I haven't done this, but I know others have learned how to no-scope from watching my replays. You just have to observe how that person moves and where the cross hair is at when he/she fires his/her gun. So, I will show you all the same video and I hope it will help some of you.
NOTE: You have to have a Bungie.net log-in and a linked gamertage to download this file into your XB360
Not everything is done perfectly, but its sufficient enough to show you how to no-scope. There are other videos out there, so if you have one feel free to post it here using the format that I used for my video.
Authors Notes
I recommend using slow sensitivities. But I use seven since I can can nail targets at wider angels at a much faster rate. I use seven for everything but I don't recommend it for most of you. Use a sensitivity that's comfortable for you. I've mastered everything from 1-10, so I know that a persons ability to aim is not that much affected by sensitivity "apart from super close or super far range battles". The best thing to do is to simply understand what you have to do to aim better. Look at where you shoot at and think before you shoot. That is, if you're trying to improve. A millisecond of thought will CERTAINLY give you more remaining ammo, less deaths, and more and faster kills. So give it a shot. I hope that you all will find no-scoping to be a fun and exciting skill to use.

Discussion
- Shotty Snipers in Matchmaking is a good place to practice your no scopes. - IxCarbonxI
- The no-scope beatdown is very effective in close combat situations as well. -- PhoZZyyy
- I consider a good practice is an infection game snipers only on a small map to really help, since you get used to no-scoping fast running zombies. Slow sensitivity is also a good idea but takes a few seconds to switch in mid-game, especially ranked. -- Emerging Impure
